When the dealer has an Ace showing, the player is offered insurance. An insurance bet is safety bet which minimizes the players loss in the event that dealer has a Blackjack. If the player accepts the insurance bet and the dealer has a Blackjack, the player losses only half of his original bet and the hand ends. However, if the dealer does not have a Blackjack, the player losses the insurance bet, and the hand continues. An insurance bet bet should be taken only when the player knows that there is a wealth of Tens left in the remaining cards.
